Doggy Jazzercise

I promise I am not reliving the eighties through my innocent dog, there is a story behind this one.

My sister and brother-in-law are visiting this weekend and I was in the back room picking up the last few loose ends. I turned out the light, walked out, and shut the door behind me. I look towards the front of the house and the front door is WIDE OPEN.

Right then I hear Vladimir barking outside. I come flying out the door to find some nice lady walking her dogs and Vlad (who has a huge little dog complex) trying to start something. I manage to herd the dogs back to the house quickly.

I figured everyone was fine because the lady walking her two dogs had managed to keep Vlad at bay. However, when I sat down at the computer to check email and post an entry Woody jumped up on me and I immediately noticed blood on my pants.

You are probably wondering why Vlad is in the picture if Woody is the one who was bleeding. Well, Woody had a small scratch on the top of his back foot. Not sure if it is from his adventure or chewing his foot (he has been doing this lately).

I thoroughly check out Woody and realize he is pretty much fine, then check Vlad just to be sure. Somehow he managed to get road rash on all four legs. My only guess as to how this happened, is that when he was trying to start something the lady pushed him away with her foot and the pavement must have rubbed him raw.

So I bandaged him up, put my bloody clothes in the laundry, and cleaned the couch where he had jumped up. (That is what the wet spots on the couch are from).

As for the front door, I must not have gotten it completely latched and since it is windy this evening it must have just blown open.

Everyone is fine now and my heart has finally stopped pounding. When I saw the door I had the most sickening feeling. How could I let something like this happen while Tom is out of town?

A quick update on baseball. After last weeks post Cleveland won the next three games to bring the series to 3-1. Last night Boston managed to avoid elimination, so now the series is 3-2. Next game is Saturday.

Go Cleveland!

Every year Tom and I have a fun bet on the MLB post season. This years bet is as follows:

Each person picks one NL and one AL team.
Tom's picks were the Boston Red Sox (AL) and the Chicago Cubs (NL)
My picks were the L.A. Angels (AL) and the Philadelphia Phillies (NL)

The bet for the post season:
Each division win is worth a $100 shopping spree in NW Portland.

For those of you who are following the playoffs you will already know the following.

Both of our NL teams lost in the first round (0-3).
Our AL teams played against eachother in the first round where Tom's Red Sox beat my Angels (0-3).

So now I am cheering on Cleveland with the hopes that they will beat Boston.
Here are the results of the first game of the series.

Things are looking good for Tom at the moment.

We also have a seperate bet for the World Series. If Boston wins the AL Championship by default I get the winner of the NL Championship. Otherwise, a coin toss will determine who gets first pick of division winners.

The loser of the bet has to plan and pay for a romantic date night.

For Tom, who's off to Spain

We will miss you while you are gone.

I will do my best to hold down the fort with my superhuman powers,

avoid alien abduction

and jail.

Fall

Fall has arrived, and it is one of my favorite seasons. Here is my top five favorite fall things list.

1. A good bowl of soup
2. Cuddling up by the fire
3. The leaves changing color
4. Listening to the rain
5. Pumpkin Spice (lattes, smoothies, etc)

This was Tom's reaction when I told him that September had passed and lo and behold...

NO RING!

Now Tom owes me 30 minutes of massage. He also managed to lose the fight bet at the most recent fight we went to which was worth 15 minutes. To settle his debt he is going to buy me a 60 minute professional massage, what a guy ;-)

Hope you had a wonderful birthday. Wish we could have been there to spend it with you. By the way, what happened, you used to be so cute :-)
