For The Record

Tom has not seen his wedding ring in a while so we have the following bet established to "encourage" him to find it.

He has until midnight Monday to find the ring. If he finds it I owe him a two hour massage, if not he owes me a half hour massage.

I will keep you posted....

Also, I promise I have pictures of the pottery coming plus some bonus pictures. Stay tuned. Have a great weekend.

Weekend Recap

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend. The revised weekend plans went off without a hitch, I will post pictures of the pottery we painted after I pick them up (tomorrow?). For dinner Saturday, we went to Bay 13. The food was excellent, I had scallops with mashed potatoes and Tom had tomato risotto and clam chowder.

On Sunday we met up with Ma and Pa for a sparkling cider brunch on board the Portland Spirit. The food was wonderful and the company divine. Here are some pictures from our cruise.

After brunch we headed over to OMSI to check out Body Worlds 3 and The Human Body (omnimax movie). We took a nice long nap when we got home and enjoyed relaxing for the remainder of the evening.

Also, as a side note, the Geiser Grand Hotel is sending us two complimentary upgrades to their "finest suite".

Birthday Cards

When we arrived home on Saturday we had a message from one of Tom's high school friends announcing the birth of his son. The last time we saw Josh was at the wedding so we were quite surprised. Here is the card I made for the new parents.

I didn't really have any baby card supplies so I found a clip art image, printed, and colored it. Now I just have to figure out where to send it.

....

Amanda (Tom's cousin) is visiting from Ohio this week. Since her birthday is close (September) I went ahead and made a card to give to her while she is in town. I just received my new birthday stamp set in the mail today, so I was very glad to have a reason to use it.

Weekend Plans Revised

We were supposed to be going to Baker City this weekend, where we had reservations at the Geiser Grand Hotel. However, when I called to confirm the room reservation and make a reservation for dinner at the restaurant they couldn't find it and were completely booked.

I tend to get really upset when "the best laid plans" fail. I was in a horrible mood for most of the day yesterday. After I had a good cry, played a 5 star difficulty Sudoku (my new favorite game), and made a wonderful dinner with some fresh produce from Ma's garden I felt much better.

Our revised weekend plans now include:

Saturday-
  • Homemade crepes for breakfast (they turned out yummy!)
  • Gym
  • Ready Paint Fire (a pottery painting place)
  • Watch the King of Kong at a local theater
  • Dinner in NW Portland

Sunday-

  • Brunch with Ma and Pa on the Portland Spirit (tentative)
  • ???

Although I am still a little bummed about the cancellation of our small trip I think we have a great weekend re-planned.

A fun card

If you want to see some really nice cards you should visit Snips and Snails, my SILS craft blog (there is a link on the side). However, I really enjoy making cards and I found some cute paper that went well with a stamp set I recently got so I decided to make a card for Tom. Don't worry I do love him, he wasn't just and excuse to craft.

Golf

My birthday, which was July 22, had a golf theme this year.
  • Tom gave me an entire set of very nice clubs

  • Ma and Pa gave me a cart, shirts, and a stroke counter (hopefully it goes high enough)

  • Mom and Dad gave me a beautiful bag and some Noodle balls (my favorite)

With the exception of Tom, no one else has seen the set all put together so with a big THANK YOU I post the picture ...

Now if only I could play as good as I look ;-)

Virtual Family Photo

Tom installed several games for me when he set up
my computer. One of them is The Sims Pet Stories.

This afternoon I created our virtual Sim family. Tom helped by creating me since my attempt at myself was an utter failure.

If only I were as a tall as Tom in real life :)

Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge

is the correct answer to the question posted in Geography Lesson. This is a video of one of his early UFC fights against Paul Herrera.

You will notice that the Tale of the Tape lists his hometown as Canada. However, he was born in Trinidad and Tabago and currently fights out of the latter.

1/2 WAY!

Toward the end of June I set a goal to lose 22 lbs. Today I reached the half way point, I have lost 11 lbs.

My black slacks are looking less like a full garbage bag and more like Hammer pants. Gotta love the eighties!

Geography Lesson?

For those of you who don't know, I work for a heavy duty truck manufacturer. One of my responsibilities is custom work orders for my "area of expertise". This consists of evaluating a non-standard option on a truck and selecting the correct design.

Today I happened upon one that caught me asking an odd question. "Is Trinidad similar to Australia or New Zealand and South Africa?" The question was only in regards to domicile requirements for chassis wiring (yes, my job is this interesting on a daily basis), but I had to laugh.

Back when I was an engineering student I thought a typical day as an engineer would revolve around equations, round table brainstorming, and innovative ideas. Maybe I really should have been a geography major.

Bonus points to the first person who can guess the name of the following Trinidad native MMA fighter...
